Watch Video Tour of Extraordinary Ultra modern Home in California by David Jameson Architect Situated a half-mile from the San Andreas Fault and enveloped in a stand of live oak trees, the project is conceived to amplify the natural and experiential forces at work on the site and beyond. Built to withstand extreme seismic events, the project explores juxtapositions of the heavy and light, public and private, and the refined and raw, while revealing the hand of the artisan and the forces of nature.
Organized as a portal that frames views to San Francisco Bay, Stanford University, and the Santa Cruz Mountains, a concrete armature wraps and cradles wooden cartridges inserted within. Spatial fissures between the rough concrete structure and refined wood volumes allude to the tension between the earth's surface and tectonic plates shifting beneath.
David Jameson, FAIA founded his architectural studio in 2001 upon a rigorous commitment to design excellence. The studio’s work has been recognized nationally and internationally with over 175 design awards and featured in over 200 design publications including Architectural Record, Abitare, Architecture, Architectural Digest, and Architectural Review. London based Wallpaper magazine recognized the firm in 2011 as one of four US based firms to follow in its Fabulous 40 issue and Architectural Digest named David as the youngest member of their AD100 roster, a listing of the top 100 architects and designer’s worldwide. In 2012 the Wall Street Journal included the studio in their folio of the ten best residential architects in the US.
